I’m taking down the walls here at Creative Tempo, where I focus on the rhythm of creative business and welcoming in those other parts of ourselves in a space called, Creative Backbeat to focus on the rhythm of life.
I believe that…
Your lifestyle and everyday choices in health and spirituality create daily rhythms that become the backbeat of your creative practice.
A snapshot of experiences that have informed my Creative Backbeat …
::Wild food foraging in the upper Michigan woods when my mom took me and my sister wilderness camping, I was 4.
::My forest ranger Dad teaching me the secrets of nature and infusing that stubborn sense of wonder into my core for good.
::Raised vegetarian mostly – except for the occasional deer my Dad would hunt with a bow or the river salmon and trout we caught.
::From super tight religion to broken bounds spirituality and OBE’s.
::Roadtrip camping, ending up in N. California wine and vine country and plunked into the beginnings of the 1970’s organic + environment movement.
::Soaking up wise women circles with my mom and her friends, putting their herb formulas into capsules and bags while my feet dangled from the chair.
::Smack in the middle of East meets West meets ’70’s (meditation, mantras, mudras, yoga, visualization, natural healing, growing your own food and saving the environment before it was a thing.)
::Seeing people get well from really bad stuff and finding out that your body really knows what to do.
::I jumped into the gym-rat experience (oh yeah) weight training, aerobics and all – 6 days a week, 2 hours a day, it was California and the days of Venice Beach bodies.
::Nightstand stack: Books on enzymes, nutrition, heart math, morphic fields, and diverse subjects galore.
::The fitness world path led to San Francisco, then to Arizona where I found my true love and begin to return to my center.
::Developing and continually upgrading my own life rhythm and backbeat includes raw foods, regular juicing, spiritual and creative practice, ancient wisdom and new science, simplicity, and focusing on joy, compassion, kindness, and love.
Human I am, so plenty of mistakes I make (got Yoda’d there for a minute!) so I’m hoping, and asking, that through our conversations and connections we can encourage each other to start at zero each day and keep upgrading our choices.
One thing that my life path has shown me is that – while there are really cool movements growing in wellness, spiritual practices, and creativity most are still isolated and fragmented, which is another reason to mix it all up here, on a site for artists. Back to the post>
